چکیده
Abstract Ceramic matrix composites have high hardness, so their machining requires grinding forces that cause severe wear of the head. To investigate this problem, present study investigated cutting performance conventional (CG) and laser-assisted (LAG) SiC f /SiC ceramic using electroplated diamond heads. Firstly, a three-dimensional transient heat transfer model based on Gaussian source was developed to observe surface internal temperature field distributions subjected laser irradiation. Secondly, effects heating workpiece were analysed. It found axial feed more than 40% lower under LAG CG due removal mechanism changing from brittle fracture ductile oxidation reactions occurred in composites. Thirdly, material analysed by observing morphology machined surfaces, which showed occurs during LAG. Finally, it is also founded mean height exposed abrasive grains reduced 1.02 μ m, 12.52 m respectively. The forms caused studied. Under CG, mainly exhibit cleavage fractures; while LAG, micro-abrasion main form.

Wear of ceramic particle-reinforced metal-matrix composites
Wear experiments have shown that when the applied normal stress exceeds a critical value, a transition occurs from the regime of mild wear to that of adhesive wear. As a result, the wear rate of particle-reinforced aluminium composites increases by a hundred-fold. Based on dislocation and delamination theories, a criterion is proposed for determining the critical transition load, and a quantita...
متن کاملFractal Analysis of Grain Cutting Edge Wear in Superabrasive Grinding
Abstract This paper deals with a fractal analysis of the wear behavior of the grain cutting edges in superabrasive grinding. Fundamental overcut fly grinding experiments for producing individual straight grooves using a grinding tool with multiple grits are carried out to clarify the wear characteristics of the grain cutting edges in the grinding process and then the change in three-dimensional...
متن کاملDiode Laser Assisted Filament Winding of Thermoplastic Matrix Composites
A new consolidation method for the laser-assisted filament winding of thermoplastic prepregs is discussed: for the first time a diode laser is used, as well as long glass fiber reinforced polypropylene prepregs. A consolidation apparatus was built by means of a CNC motion table, a stepper motor and a simple tensioner. Preliminary tests were performed in a hoop winding configuration: only the wi...
